Obama calls for world cooperation after bombing

  Washington: US President Barack Obama on Friday sent condolences to Norway after the deadly bombing and shooting in the capital city of Oslo. Obama called on the world to work together to fight terrorism.

After a meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key, Obama said "our hearts" go to the people of Norway, pledging to provide support to the investigation, Xinhua reported. He said the attacks were a reminder that the whole world has "a stake" in stopping this kind of terror from happening.

"We have to work cooperatively together on intelligence and in terms of prevention of these kinds of horrible attacks," Obama said. At least seven people have been confirmed dead and many others were injured in a huge bomb explosion in downtown Oslo Friday, police said. In another incident, a deadly shooting took place at Utoeya island, south of Oslo. Reports said at four people were killed.
